Forum des associations de Pezenas

In spite of the current sanitary situation, Pézenas was given the go-ahead by the Préfecture to run the yearly Forum des Loisirs, a highlight of the sports and cultural scene in Pézenas.

The Forum was set up in Cours Jean Jaurès, where the weekly Saturday market takes place. It happened on Friday afternoon between 5:00 and 7:00pm, a change from the usual Saturday morning in Parc Sans Souci.

The Mairie installed all the tables and benches, back to back all along and around the market square, leaving plenty of space between the stalls, and the public had to walk in a “sens unique” following arrows painted on the ground.

The new mayor, Armand Rivière, opened the Forum. Our stall was run by Gill, our Treasurer, Mike and Martine.

Both the glorious weather and the most pleasant set up at the market square made it a very successful afternoon and the event was well attended.

We were kept quite busy by the enquiries from the public, we may well have recruited 2 new members, and we had the chance to be asked to give RPH, Radio Pays d’Hérault, an interview about our Club and its activities.

We were also very happy to see each other again, and to have the visit of a few of our members, past and present: Nicole, Atika, Grazyna, Mike and Marian, Anne-Marie, and Barbara.

It was really heart-warming to see familiar faces again and to catch up with “old” friends. We also heard about a knitting group meeting at a salon de thé, and apparently quite a few members speak English: worth investigating, we thought... Let’s wait for the latest sanitary measures taken by the French government and let’s hope we can find a way to meet again soon.

All in all, it was really worth attending the Forum, it did give us visibility... and “audibility” - we’ll let you know when the radio programme about the whole event is broadcast. In the meantime, stay safe, keep well and enjoy this wonderful September weather.

Best wishes to all,

Martine.
